Jakob Norgren
Jakob Norgren Big Band Splash (2004-2009) From the start the band has been an XL soulband. However for the first two albums there also was an ambition to integrate soul with original jazz compositions and even electronic sounds. Check-out this side of the band on the albums Wide Meadow Soul and East Of The Arctic Circle.
Big Band Splash (2010-) Jakob Norgren is still the arranger and leader of the band but the name is shortened to just Big Band Splash (because that’s what everybody said anyway). To make it easer for himself and the audience Jakob decided to move his jazz and electronic stuff to other projects, for example The Emersons. From now on Big Band Splash will focus on soul/r&b, but as it’s a big band there will always be a touch of jazz.

Artists
Marino Valle + Greta, Stella & Sunniva Bondesson have been regular singers from the start. Marino has one of the most soulful voices on the Swedish scene of roots music and was the first one to recieve the Memorial Prize of Janne Rosenqvist, the most prestigeious price in Swedish blues/soul.
The Bondesson sisters have recieved great appreciation internationally with their band Baskery. They are heard on lead as well as backup vocals on all Big Band Splash albums.
Sven Zetterberg, a legend on the swedish blues scene, appeared with two songs already on the first album, Wide Meadow Soul. One of them was Sam Cooke’s That’s where it’s at in a duet with Marino. On the new album Another Apple Sven’s back with the r&b-classic Drowning on dry land and You Used Me Baby, a ballad signed Willie Hightower.
John Németh (San Fransisco) is one of the most interesting new artists on the american blues/soul scene, and right now he’s nominated for the Blues Awards as Contemporary Blues Male Artist Of The Year. A few years ago he made a tour with the swedish band Trickbag were Jakob also participated as a saxplayer. In the summer of 2009 John was back in Stockholm and Big Band Splash had just recorded Another Apple. For one of the songs lead singer was not decided yet. Jakob asked John, who had some hours left, to lay down the vocals on Walk A Mile In My Shoes. Great music was made...
